Peter HolterSenior Management Adviser

Peter came to NMCC as an experienced entrepreneur in January 2014, first as a management adviser and lead mentor in the fledgling Native Entrepreneur in Residence (NEIR) program. He then assumed the position of Managing Director, Entrepreneurial Services. Part of that work was to design a successful business model, reflecting an enterprise “by, for and about” Native Americans, including development and execution of a management succession plan to reflect those core values. With that completed in late 2018 and a new Executive Director hired, Peter stepped into an advisory role, assisting the team  in program development and implementation, revenue generation, and overall management.

Prior to his engagement at NMCC, Peter served for 8 years as CEO of Holistic Management International, an international non-profit (501c3) in the sustainable agriculture space. Brought in to address significant “turn around” issues,  work included significant financial and legal stabilization, implementation of a major organizational restructure, liquidation and redeployment of assets including sale of an 11,000 acre cattle ranch in Texas, a refocused brand, consolidation and implementation of redesigned programs, development of logic model, cost per impact reporting, and critical increases in fundraising/revenue generation.
Originally, Peter was the founder and CEO of Holterco LLC for over 20 years, headquartered in San Francisco, with branch offices in New Mexico, Utah, and New York City. The firm provided a range of consulting and program development services, including target market analyses, feasibility studies, detailed business plans and financial models, branding and differentiation strategies, costing/pricing strategies, sales training, and development and execution of promotion/communications programs. Peter successfully sold that business in 2005 to move full time to his home in New Mexico.
